Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to do anything before creating a testing account with PSI?

You must have an FAA Tracking Number (FTN) obtained through IACRA before you can establish a PSI testing account. If you do not already have this, visit the FAA-IACRA website at: https://iacra.faa.gov to register. NOTE: Double check that your personal information is entered correctly, or you may encounter challenges later. Once you have received your FTN, you can create a testing account through PSI.

How much does an FAA Knowledge Test cost?

The exam fee will be paid through the PSI website at the time of scheduling. The cost for each exam is $175.

What if no testing appointments are available at RAC when I try to schedule my exam?

If no time slots show up for our testing center, it is likely because the selected date(s) are full. Additionally, the scheduling software will only allow you to search within a two-week window. If you do not find a time slot, try adjusting the start and end time frame of your search.

What kind of testing aids are provided?

Scratch paper, pencils, analog E6B flight computer, navigational plotter, ruler, test supplement booklet, basic four function calculator.

What testing aids can I bring with me?

Your own calculator, electronic E6B flight computer (subject to proctor approval), magnifying glass, reading glasses, etc.

Are there required documents I should bring?

ALL APPLICANTS are required to bring a government issued photo ID with your current physical address. If your ID does not include your correct address, you can bring a supplemental document that has it, such as a utility bill, vehicle registration, lease agreement, FAA pilot or medical certificate, etc. If you are NOT a US Citizen, you must also bring your passport. Additionally, every test has a unique requirement for instructor endorsement or authorization. If you are taking a pilot exam (ex. Private Pilot Airplane) you should consult with your CFI to ensure all requirements are met and endorsements provided before scheduling an exam. FAA Part 107 (Unmanned Aircraft) testing does not require an instructor endorsement.

How can I reschedule or cancel my test?

Return to the PSI True Talent website to reschedule or cancel appointments. We recommend doing this no less than 48 hours in advance of your scheduled test time.
