Post 9/11 and Montgomery GI Bill Flight Training

Rochester Air Center is Approved for Chapter 33 (Post 9/11) Benefits & Chapter 30 (Montgomery GI Bill) for Multi-Engine Flight Training.

RAC is proud to support those who have served and are currently serving our country.

We understand the unique needs of providing flight training to our service members utilizing VA benefits. Our trained staff is well versed in assisting veterans to deal with all of the applicable documents and training course requirements.


Effective October 1st, 2011, veterans eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill are able to use $10,000 per academic year for Flight Training (cost of living adjustments increase yearly limits). An academic year lasts from August 1 to July 31. All Flight Training except Private Pilot is covered . Airplane Flight Training Programs available at RAC are:

  • Instrument Pilot
  • Commercial Pilot
  • Multi Engine Pilot
  • Certified Flight Instructor
  • Certified Flight Instructor Instrument
  • Multi-Engine Instructor
  • Airplane Additional Category (Helicopter Pilot Transition to Fixed Wing)

VA Students enrolling must register using VONAPP. Select the flight - training program you want and Rochester Air Center as your flight school.

Veterans will then receive a letter of eligibility with Rochester Air Center and your program listed. It usually takes a few weeks to get the letter. Once you have the letter, bring it with you, along with a copy of your DD 214 to Rochester Air Center. We will then enroll you on our system and you can begin training.
